Understanding the origins of Vivaldi’s style can only be accomplished through the discovery and attribution of this Sonata. Vivaldi is probably best known for his Sonata RV 10, which is regarded as one of his most personal and original sonatas. The piece, which was recently cataloged as RV 820 in the Vivaldi Catalog, is the earliest known work by Vivaldi. In 2014, composer Federico Sardelli and pianist Javier Lupi*ez independently identified the Trio Sonata for violin and cello in G major as an early Vivaldian work.
